Dear Commonwealth Baseball Community,
I’m Sam Surik. I’m Federal Baseball’s new site manager. I’m so excited to be a part of this community and have the opportunity to take this site to the next level and provide great Nationals coverage and insight. My top priority here is to create content that is fun and informative for my fans.
I’ll start with a little about myself. I was born and raised in Washington, DC, and have been obsessed with nuts ever since they came to town as a kid. The Nationals have been a big part of my life since the RFK days. I had a difficult year in 2019 as I battled cancer in high school, but the Nationals have always supported me and helped us make an incredible run to the World Series. Nationals baseball has a special place in my heart, and I’m so happy to be able to write about it for our community of passionate supporters.
There will be some changes to the content side of this site to reflect my vision. There will be in-depth stories to profile players and use data to understand organizational trends. We want to share as much information as possible to connect our community with our team as much as possible. We also plan to add more opinion-based stories that start conversations and encourage discussion within the community. I like to call it what I see. If the organization is making mistakes, I blame them.
We will also be launching a 20th Anniversary Series highlighting the players and moments that defined the Nationals franchise. It will be a fun time to remember some of the forgotten legends that helped make this series what it is today.
In addition to the major league team, I also want to pay attention to the farm system. In the rebuild, the farm is the focus of much fan attention. Now that the Nationals have the No. 1 pick, I will also be doing a series on draft prospects both at the top of the draft and beyond.
This season will be one of the most important in Nationals history. After years of rebuilding, we should start seeing results in the field. This season will answer a lot of questions, and the state of the organization will become clearer by the end of the year. I’m excited to be on that journey with this amazing community.
