The moment Robbie Allen boarded the plane, he knew something was wrong.
Last year he was traveling to Nadi with Virgin Australia for his birthday, and it was no ordinary flight. From check-in to the boarding gate, solo travelers were sure something was missing.
He immediately realized what it was: another passenger.

The captain came and sat next to him and chatted. The flight attendants paid close attention to Allen during the four-hour trip as there were no other passengers to serve. Serving a basket of snacks and refilling the champagne was a surreal experience.
He joked that the airline knew it was his birthday and must have had a “private jet experience.”

Allen says Ghost Flight was certainly spooky.

He suspected Virgin’s flying ferry flights with only one passenger had something to do with the Covid chaos.
