Eduardo Sol, who starred in “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” was stabbed to death in his home.
In a statement to Extra, the Palm Springs Police Department said a resident called 911 at 5:41 a.m. on September 10. When officers arrived on scene, they heard a man “in obvious distress.” Once inside, they found Sol “suffering from severe injuries that appeared to have been the result of an assault.”
He was rushed to hospital where he is said to be in serious but stable condition.
Police said the victim, later identified as Sol, was notified on Sept. 20 that he had “died from his injuries.”
According to Palm Springs Police, on September 10, a man named Richard Joseph Gonzalez, 34, called police on September 11, claiming he had been “assaulted the previous night.” After further investigation, police determined he was a “suspect in the earlier stabbing incident.”
Gonzalez was arrested and booked into the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio, California.
Palm Springs police “contacted the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, who have charged Gonzalez with murder.”
Gonzalez is being held without bail. His next court date is Dec. 18, according to jail records.
Sol played the role of a landscape gardener on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition from season 2 to season 8. She is also known as a singer, dancer, television personality, and social activist.
