Texas-based travel center Buc-ee’s boasts the world’s longest car wash at its Katy, Texas, store on the western edge of the Houston metropolitan area, but its existence raises the question of whether biggest is best.
A TikTok video extolling the experience, posted by the Texas Travel account (@txvacation), has been viewed 1.4 million times since it was posted on August 12. The video, which shows a five-minute car wash experience sped up five times, makes it seem like a low-key adult entertainment attraction.
The narrator explains, “At the beginning, we see a lot of color and also a hologram of Bakshi.”
It also says, “Before you get started, you can choose between two different packages: Works for $16 or a basic car wash for $13. I chose the Works because it came with a few extra perks like tire shine and a free vacuum.”

But what about performance?
Comment Poster TexAgs ForumThe company, which serves Texas A&M University fans, raised the issue in a post last October.
“My wife often goes to Bucees car washes,” he began, before noting that she had reported a scratch on the hood. He confirmed there were distinctive scratches on the hood and roof above the windshield.
“I’m hoping a detailer will polish it up,” the commenter continued. “It feels rough, but doesn’t seem to go any deeper than the clear coat. The hood also looks dull. That car had ceramic on it too.”
As a result, one person expressed a “deep distrust of automatic car washes,” while another pointed out, “No one cleans the equipment. You take a risk every time you use an automatic car wash.”
There were also some sarcastic comments in the comments section of the Texas Travel video.
“Worth five minutes of scratching,” one person said.
Another person joked: “You can get a lot done in five minutes.”
However, the car wash does have its fans, with one fan commenting: “I’ve been in that car wash! It seems never-ending! It’s amazing!”
