SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – A slew of Halloween-related events will be held in downtown cores and shopping districts this weekend, and merchants hope it will not only bring festivities but also some business. are doing.
Carpinteria will host “T” trick-or-treating Friday afternoon at stores around Linden Avenue and Carpinteria Avenue, followed by a costume contest at the Linda Fairley Art Center. A special Halloween edition comedy show will be held at the Alcazar Theater on Friday night.
Downtown Santa Barbara hosts trick-or-treating in the business district on Saturdays. The smallest customers will have the biggest impact on the community when they dress up in costume, pick up candy, and see all the decorations. More than 100 companies will participate. They raise balloons and prepare bowls of candy.
The courthouse’s Sunken Garden will host World Dance for Humanity’s annual Thriller dance performance Saturday at 3 p.m., with hundreds of people expected to gather on all sides of the show.
Shop decoration contests are also being held throughout downtown to add to the weekend’s festivities. The winners were announced Friday afternoon. “Wildcat Lounge” took first place. 2nd place went to Whiskey Richards and 3rd place went to Red Piano.
Basically, many businesses and communities enjoy about five days worth of entertainment, fun, and special activities this Halloween, which takes place on Tuesday.
