WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – Well, Texas, this morning’s entertainment segment begins with something special. We had a chance to play with a local band that is very famous in the area. Now, this particular group is doing some great things like pep rallies and something completely different, performances in the library. Take a look at a band called Hellen Bach.
They are celebrating their 18th anniversary. Today we’ll look at how they got started. Their lead singer, Larissa Brown, realized she wanted to be part of something bigger when she was just 17 years old.
“I saw some bands playing at the American Legion and decided that’s what I wanted to do. So I shot ads around town and wrote with my left hand. By doing this, I made sure that no one would necessarily notice that I was a woman who could write well. I am a singer and looking for a band, and I said that I would sing anything but country. gave it his number,” said Larissa Brown, lead singer of Helen Buck.
What Larissa didn’t expect was to get a call asking for the opportunity she had been waiting for.
“Our drummer, Chris, also known as Animal, called me and said, ‘Do you want to join the band?'” Larissa said.
Larissa became part of the group, finally filling the void in what would soon become her new musical family. From this jump began their 18 year journey with her and Helen Buck was born.
“I passed the exam successfully, survived the trial, and here I am 18 years later,” Larissa said.
Now, when it comes to musical style, Helen Buck can do anything from original songs to cover songs.
“We’re mostly a cover band. We’ve done some original songs in the past as well. We’ll do anything but country, that’s what we tell people. We’re I like to play a little bit of everything,” Larissa declared.
What you can expect is a variety of unique sounds.
Now, music isn’t the only thing you’ll be seeing Helen Buck perform at her next performance.
“We try to do some things that maybe other people don’t like that are funny. Some things go on here and there. I tell jokes,” says Larissa. I did.
The band has played a variety of venues, including some unexpected ones.
“I went to school. I went to MSU with a friend who ended up being a librarian over there, and she said, ‘If you guys come here and read books, He said he would be happy if we could play a few songs or something. I have to go a few times,” Larissa said.
Another proud moment for the band was having the opportunity to go to Electra High School for a pep rally and let me just say the kids enjoyed every moment and memorized the songs word for word.
Despite celebrating their 18th anniversary, they have been through “hell and hell,” as drummer Chris once said. Through determination, grace, and just being true to themselves, they were able to seize bigger moments.
These are the words that Larissa conveyed to the fans on behalf of the band.
“Very dedicated fans, family, friends, and even people we don’t know. Sometimes they just come to see us and become friends and family. We just want people to have a good time.” We just want you to spend your time there and hear live music. That’s something you don’t get to see.”
Shy drummer Chris, devoted guitarist Randy, magnificent bassist Shane, and of course the bubbly and gregarious lead singer Larissa are the opening act for Under the Rag tonight at the Iron Horse Pub.
