The Supreme Court is set to hear a lawsuit against Thomas Jefferson High School, alleging that the nation’s top-ranked high school discriminates on the basis of race in admissions.
The Pacific Law Foundation filed a motion in court on behalf of the Coalition for TJ, a group of school parents and community members. The Fairfax County Board of Education is trying to address racial disparities among students, particularly the underrepresentation of black and Hispanic students. The school does not explicitly filter by race, but instead introduces regional quotas to guarantee admission to the top performing students from each middle school in the county. The school also factored in income.
Fox News Digital did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the school board on the Pacific Law Foundation’s Supreme Court enforcement.
