An agent was summoned to the Triton High School gymnasium in Shelby County on July 23 due to an ongoing brawl between players, coaches and officials, sheriffs said.
The game was between the Cincinnati Indians Elite and the Owensboro DSP Heat and was hosted by Indiana US Amateur Basketball.
At one point during the match, one of the referees was detained and assaulted, sources said.
On August 11, an arrest warrant was issued for one of Cincinnati Indians’ elite coaches, Lakita Carter, on felony imprisonment and assault charges.
On August 14, Carter was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Hamilton County Judiciary Center.
According to the sheriff’s office, juvenile members of the Cincinnati Indians’ elite women’s and men’s teams were also involved in an altercation in the gym that resulted in the injury of another employee.
