One employee who works two jobs said she makes more money working part-time than working as a dental assistant.
in the video, Joi (@joigasm) shared that she works two jobs. She works as a dental assistant during the day and as a part-time waiter at night and on weekends.
“I always tell my mother this: I earn the most as a waitress,” Joy said.

Joy said she got her first job as a waitress at the famous breakfast chain IHOP when she was 19. Ms Joy said she took home $1,200 in tips in one week during the year she worked there. (If Joy’s tip was consistent and she worked every week of the year, that would be about $62,000 a year.)
“Now I’m 25. I have two jobs,” she said.
However, having two jobs is not uncommon. The Daily Dot reported on multiple people with multiple employers, including remote workers. One said he has three work-from-home jobs that earn him over $10,000 a month. Another posted a day working full time at both Aldi and Walmart.
“What a dentist can make in two weeks is the same as what a restaurant can make in a week,” Joy said.
So, in theory, if Joy makes $1,000 in her day job as a dental assistant, she could work 20 hours as a waitress and make the same $1,000.
according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, The median salary for a dental assistant is $21.55 an hour, or $44,820 annually.for waiter and waitressThe median is $14 an hour, $29,120 a year.
But Joy warned that being a server isn’t for everyone.
“Being a waitress takes a lot of patience.
As of Wednesday morning, her video has over 90,000 views.
In a comment, one dental hygienist said dental assistants are underpaid even though they “do a lot.”
Other commenters said they had similar experiences with the income they make as servers.
“It’s so real, you’ll have the money soon, and in the current economic climate, you literally need it,” said one person.
“I also work from 9 to 5, but I always remember how much I earned by working for three days and taking 2,000 yen home. wrote another.
The Daily Dot emailed Joy for comment.
