As the world grows stranger by the day, conspiracy theories are officially in vogue. However, there are some theories that remain largely unbelievable, even as large segments of the population gravitate toward certain non-traditional ways of thinking.
Twitter user asked: What are popular conspiracy theories? please do not do you believe
Twitter user @checkmatestate took advantage of the unsettled world situation to pose a pressing question.
Tell me a popular conspiracy theory you don’t believe.
— Kurt (Libertarian) (@checkmatestate) January 30, 2023
A topical topic ripe for controversy, if at all.
The most enduring theory of them all was the popular reaction
No American conspiracy theory is more quintessentially American than the moon landing hoax, and it was, inevitably, one of the biggest reactions to the moon landing.
The moon landing was fake
— Warren Redrich (@WR4NYGov) January 30, 2023
Not surprisingly, another Twitter user came to correct this misconception: the moon landing. was Fake, ask your uncle!
My uncle who lived just south of the Cape really believed they were fake.

Another Twitter user drew attention to a more recent (and diabolical) theory
And here’s a more recent theory that emerged (painfully) in the wake of the highly publicized NFL player Damar Hamlin’s heart attack:
Dumar Hamlin has died.
— Sarah (@swkyhokie) January 30, 2023
This theory lost any ground it might have had when Hamlin released a lengthy video detailing his recovery and thanking his supporters.
what about the shape of the earth?
According to most respondents, the earth is definitely round, despite the prevailing conspiracy theories to the contrary.
flat earth

Some users cited theories supported by the media
Some conspiracy theories come out of the media, not out of distant pockets of the population. Apparently, a media stamp of approval doesn’t necessarily make the theory believable:
Trump and Russia Collusion
And I don’t even like Trump lol
— TSLA Gang (@TSLAgang) January 30, 2023
“War stimulates the economy in a positive direction.”
This is a dangerous and stupid mass conspiracy that I do not believe.
— Brad Green (@bradgreenutah) January 30, 2023
These are ideas found in most mainstream publications (right or left) but not widely accepted as facts.
Yet Some Say Virtually All Conspiracy Theories Are True
As one Twitter user pointed out, over time, conspiracy theories can turn into reality.
Nothing I believe it hasn’t come true… except maybe Godzilla and I question it now
— Letitia Wallace (@Roddenbry251) January 31, 2023
Godzilla coming to a nearby big city?
