Kota Kinabalu: A total of 488 companies with Bionexus and Bio-based Accelerator (BBA) status managed to generate a total profit of RM20.4 billion as of last year, said Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Datuk Mohamad Yusof Apdal. Ta.

Mohammad Yusof said that since 2021, more than 1,800 candidates have been enrolled in the BioAgrotech and Biopharmaceutical Employability and Entrepreneurship Specialized Training Program (BeST 2.0) and placed under these companies. He added that training is creating more skilled workers in this field.
“We want to create employment opportunities for our graduates while giving them the opportunity to explore business opportunities in the bioeconomy. It’s an initiative.”

Mohammad Yusof said the roadshow highlighted common challenges faced by industry players, including limited access to financing, difficulties in certification and accreditation, market access constraints, and lack of a knowledgeable workforce. He said that the aim is to address.

Meanwhile, Mohd Khairul Fidzal said the Bioeconomy Corporation will register 120 candidates for the BeST 2.0 program through this year’s Bioeconomy Roadshow series, as well as recruiting 65 companies across the country to participate in the BioNexus and BBA status programs.
