“Lots from Covid stick to me. ICU nurses. Nurses here. Many people passed due to misinformation about the vaccine. They wanted the vaccine after they got so sick. You can think of the patient who said he was there. His wife especially passed away recently. Covid, and he wanted to see her funeral, but he didn’t see it. He said he would say he would I let him in the room and he was very sick and wanted to turn off all the oxygen and medication.
“I often get a flashback to all patients who gave iPads and faceTime the family at the end before being intubated (death sentence). No one breaks my heart.
I also told patients near the discharge about their dreams where they went or wherever they had pursued them. He fell into cardiac arrest while waiting for his ride to pick him up, and we never got him back.
This is not a confession, but it is the strangest story I have ever come across.
We patient patients in the ICU for several months of illness in liver failure, perforated intestines, CRRT…work. He was very yellow (from liver failure) and he almost seemed to shine. He eventually entered cardiac arrest and died, so we sent him to the morgue and cleaned the room. A few hours later, we acknowledged an older, confused man with dementia due to a fall. I was moving him to his bed, and the first thing he asked was, “Why is there a yellow man standing in the corner of my room?!” I was shaking. ”
