It’s the biggest night in cultural history! Celebrities from music, television, film and sports are ready to join him at his 2023 BET Awards to celebrate black excellence.
With heavy hitters like Drake, Lizzo, Beyoncé, Angela Bassett and LeBron James on the shortlist, it’s hard to pick a favorite. But someone has to take the trophy home, and ET is tracking down the night’s winner.
Drake tops this year’s list of nominations with seven nominations, including Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, Best Group (21 Savage Awards) and Best Collaboration (Future & Thames Awards). Won the most nominations.
With six nominations, including Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, Best New Artist and Album of the Year, Glorilla reigns as the night’s most nominated female. anyway life is great “Tomorrow 2” with Cardi B wins Video of the Year.
Sunday night’s show will return to the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, and will be especially important as it celebrates 50 years of hip-hop through live coverage. And, of course, music is a big part of the night, with performances by this year’s nominees including Coco Jones, Glorilla, Doechy, and Lil Uzi Vert.
The night included a star-studded tribute to Tina Turner, several performances that paid tribute to the hip-hop subgenre, and a tribute to this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Busta Rhymes, celebrating his 30th anniversary. There will also be performances honoring musical achievements over the years.
