Robert Barcelot and Sergio Estrada were also arrested on suspicion of murder, but have pleaded not guilty. Both men are scheduled to appear in court on January 22nd.
Wachter was killed in a 3 a.m. shooting on a Los Angeles street in May. He was walking to his car with his friend Anita Joy after finishing his shift as a bartender.
A few months ago, True Crime News host Ana Garcia spoke with Johnny’s mother, Scarlett Wachter, on an “extra” episode, and the grieving mother opened up about what happened that night.
She explained: “He and Anita Joy were walking to their car. They were laughing and talking.”
Scarlett continued: “He noticed them and thought they were being towed. So they were behind the wheel and he thought that’s what they were doing. And he asked them… “Are you towing my car?” And when the man looked up with a mask on, he immediately backed up in front of Anita and put his hands down. , the man shot him in the heart at close range. ”
Ana asked, “He didn’t have a chance to say anything?”
Scarlett said, “No. Anita, she heard a pop and he fell full force into her and she was like, ‘Are you okay?’ He said, “No, I shot him.” And those were his last words. He died there in her arms. ”
