Two key Bucks players missed practice on Wednesday Those two are the main players for coach Todd Bowles’ squad heading into Sunday’s season opener against the Washington Commanders. Kicker Chase McLaughlin is the better-known and most important of the two. The other player who missed practice was backup defensive tackle Logan Hall.
McLaughlin is listed on the injured list as having an abdominal/illness and Hall is listed as having a foot injury. The Buccaneers don’t plan to use another kicker unless McLaughlin misses practice on Thursday, meaning the team will need a backup plan for Sunday options in case McLaughlin can’t play.
As for Hall, the Buccaneers have a relatively deep corps of defensive tackles in case he is unable to make it in time for the game against the Commanders.
“He has legs. [injury]”Buccaneers Head Coach” Todd Bowles “It will probably continue through the weekend. We’ll see how he does. There are a lot of players who are in the rotation platoon.”
Bowles plans to rotate three healthy players — Will Gholston, Greg Gaines and Ernest Brown — into the lineup if Hall is unable to play in Sunday’s season opener against Washington.
Bucks recovering for Week 1
Several Buccaneers players were listed on the injury report — mostly due to past ailments — but played the full game.
Outside linebackers Yaya Diaby (ankle) and Joe Tryon Soyinka (shoulder) played full games, as did inside linebackers Servoisia Dennis (shoulder) and J.J. Russell (ribs).
In the secondary, strong safety Jordan Whitehead (quadriceps), backup safety Kayvon Meriweather (knee) and backup cornerbacks Josh Hayes (groin) and Tyreek Funderburk (foot) also practiced without issues.
Offensively, backup tackle Justin Skull (abdominal injury) also returned.
The only player limited for Wednesday’s game was defensive tackle Ernest Brown, who has sore ribs.
