final step
If you’ve tried all other methods and still can’t speed up your PC’s performance, try the following steps. These steps require some technical know-how, such as how to open and replace components inside your PC, so you may need to seek professional help.
Tip 8 – Upgrade your RAM
One of the most common problems slowing down your PC is not having enough RAM for all your applications. 8 GB of RAM is fine for most users, but if you find that your PC is slow with 8 GB of RAM, it’s worth upgrading to 16 GB. Most computer stores will help you with this for a fee.
Tip 9 – Use an SSD
Solid state drives (SSDs) can significantly increase the speed of your PC. They offer faster data transfer rates, improved boot and load times, and higher bandwidth compared to traditional hard drives. Installing an SSD and moving your operating system and critical applications to the SSD will reduce boot, load, and read/write times.
There are two options for installing an SSD. Either do it yourself or consult a professional. If you are tech-savvy and comfortable working with computer hardware, you can install an SSD yourself. This includes replacing or adding an existing HDD to his SSD and transferring the operating system and files.
However, most people will want to consult a professional. They can handle installation and data transfer for you. Whichever method you choose, it’s important to back up your data beforehand and make sure your computer is compatible with your chosen SSD.
Tip No. 10 – Perform a clean reinstall of Windows
This should only be attempted by people who are familiar with installing and reinstalling operating systems. Otherwise, we recommend taking your PC to a repair shop. If you want to perform a clean installation of Windows 11 or 10, visit Microsoft’s website and go to the “Reinstall Windows” page.
Cart important points
It’s never fun when your computer is slow. We hope these 10 tips will help you get your PC back up to speed. The first four steps are sufficient for most users, but if you are comfortable and have more technical experience, try steps 4-10 or seek professional help to complete them.
