No matter what time of year you visit, there’s always something to celebrate at Walt Disney World. But there’s even more fun to be had during the holidays, when theme parks even have their own version of snow. What about outside the park? You could honestly write it as just as beautiful. From gorgeous traditional decorations to do-it-yourself spots, here are 10 Disney resorts where you can celebrate the best of Christmas.
1. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
Consistently voted the best holiday decoration of all Disney resorts, Wilderness Lodge has the quintessential traditional Christmas look and feel. When you enter the huge lobby, complete with a 60-foot Christmas tree, you’ll feel like you’re getting a big hug from Santa. With several fireplaces and miniature holiday decorations throughout the rest of the resort, this is the palace to go if you want to get into the spirit of family Christmases gone by.
2. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
The Victorian theme of the Grand Floridian Resort is so beautiful. at Christmas timeHowever, the beauty of the resort is unparalleled. Each year, Disney chefs and artists showcase their talents by creating a life-sized gingerbread house in the main lobby. When it comes to decor and music, it’s a “ye old” style. Elegant in style and atmosphere, this resort is very popular with those looking to soak up some Christmas cheer this Christmas. Remember, you don’t need a resort reservation to visit a Disney resort.
3. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Another resort on the Disney World Monorail route, Polynesian Village, or “The Poli” as locals like to call it, is a Christmastime treat. Its Christmas tree may not be as extravagant as the one at Wilderness Lodge, but it is beautifully decorated with flowers and bright colors. This is his one of the best Disney resorts to “hop on the monorail” during the holiday season. Enjoy people-watching while enjoying snacks and drinks at Tambu Lounge.
4. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Resort
It was a pleasure staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge. during christmas season, so it’s at the top of my personal list. From the moment you arrive at the lodge’s lobby, its giant Christmas tree becomes the focal point of your decorations. In a non-traditional style, wooden animal ornaments and warm lights are placed on either side of the tree, as well as festive wreaths. Check the hourly schedule if you’re planning a visit, as the resort offers Christmas tree photo ops, carols, children’s activities, and more.
5. Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resort
Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club resorts each offer a different atmosphere, but since they are connected and share a pool, we’ll keep them connected for this list. As I mentioned above, the Beach Club has a giant edible merry-go-round made of gingerbread, which attracts many guests every season. As for the yacht club, the very ornate village and miniature train in the lobby are well worth a visit.
6. Disney’s Boardwalk Inn Resort
The Boardwalk Inn looks like a collection of several stores and buildings, so the several beautiful gingerbread houses on display fit the theme perfectly. The decoration is vintage style, perfectly matches the theme and daily decor, and is gorgeous to look at. Although we don’t have an indoor Christmas tree, be sure to head outside to the courtyard and take a peek at our beautiful Christmas tree. If you’re not staying at a Disney resort and want to avoid parking fees during your visit, you can always park at Disney Springs and ride the resort bus to check out the decorations for free.
7. Disney Contemporary Resort
Another resort without a lobby tree, the Contemporary Resort (just not in the lobby) has the largest Christmas tree on Disney World property. The Christmas decorations at this resort are more modest and modern than other resorts, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t visit. In fact, the Mary Blair-style edible displays at this monorail resort are worth checking out.
8. Disney Art of Animation Resort
The Art of Animation Resort has been a popular Disney World property since opening on May 31, 2012. It’s filled with life-sized Disney icons, a main pool with underwater character voices, and resort rooms to immerse your family in the world of Disney. car, finding nemo, The Lion Kingand little mermaid. When we think of Christmas, our hearts flutter at the sight of giant white Christmas trees filled with neon-colored ornaments and character pictures. Without a doubt, Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is the coolest place to be. For Christmas, it’s not fancy, but it’s an all-in style decoration for your guests. Each year, the themes get more elaborate and neighboring countries try to outdo each other, all in the name of friendly competition, of course. If you don’t want to walk around, find the resort bus that traverses the campground area and enjoys great views of the decorations.
